FloodCamsQLD is a free flood camera aggregator built by Andrew Patrick (the "Developer"). This Privacy Policy explains what data the app collects, what it does not, and the very limited ways information leaves your device.
These cameras are for reference only — remember, if it's flooded, forget it.
A convenience tool, not an official warning system. Always obey road closures and follow BOM, council, and emergency services advice.
FloodCamsQLD has no user accounts, no analytics, no advertising, no in-app purchases, and no servers of its own. Nothing you do in the app is reported back to us. The app does make outbound requests — to public council disaster dashboards and the Bureau of Meteorology — in order to fetch the camera images and weather data you see on screen. Those requests are for public information; we do not send your data to them.
The only data you enter is your favourites — the cameras you have starred for quick access. These are stored locally on your device using iOS's standard secure storage. They never leave your device, and they are not synced to any server we operate.
If you grant location permission, FloodCamsQLD uses your approximate location on-device only to sort the camera list so that nearer cameras appear first. Your location is never transmitted off your device. You can decline or revoke this permission at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → FloodCamsQLD; the rest of the app continues to work normally, the list just isn't proximity-sorted.
If you choose to archive a camera (to build a local timelapse), the images are downloaded from the public council feed and saved to your device's app storage. The archive lives only on your device. We do not have a copy.
To show you live data, the app makes requests to:
These requests fetch publicly available information. The app does not send your favourites, your location, or any identifying information to these endpoints. Standard internet headers (such as your IP address and a generic user-agent string) are visible to those operators in the normal course of any web request, the same way they would be if you opened those websites in a browser.
FloodCamsQLD is distributed via the Apple App Store. Apple's own privacy policies apply to your App Store account, your downloads, and any usage data Apple collects independently of the app. We do not receive any of that information.
All app data is stored on-device. Uninstalling FloodCamsQLD deletes your favourites, your archive images, and all settings from your iPhone. There is nothing on a server for us to delete because there is no server.
FloodCamsQLD is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under that age.
If we ever change this policy, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Material changes will be noted in the App Store release notes for the version that introduces them.
